Rising 4yo 16.3/17hh OTTB Dark Bay Gelding
Oscar (Oxburger) is an exceptionally quiet and lovely gelding. He is very eager to please and is an absolute dude. Oscar is eligible for Equimillion.
Been ridden down the road, and hasn’t put a foot wrong whether alone or in company. Has been ridden off property and was no different than at home. Has been exposed to tractors, machinery, cars, trains, etc. has also been exposed to sheep, alpacas, dogs etc and has never bat an eye. Been lead from a car, plastic bags, chaff bags etc with no hassles at all. He genuinely is the most fuss free horse you’ll ever meet!
Been off property and trotted over 60cm twice and was point and shoot without getting hot or fussed. Due to his age this was the only time he has been over anything other than trot poles and has been cleared by his vet to start doing some small jumps to strengthen his muscles and joints.
Has been ridden in an arena with mirrors and acted like a school master who had done it a million times before. Has 3 lovely big ground covering paces, picks up the correct canter lead every time and has established self carriage 80% of the time. Has a rocking horse canter and exceptional breaks, snaffle mouth.
Can jump straight on after months off with no work down required and he is the exact same as the day he was put in the paddock.
No rear, buck, bolt, bite, kick, can crawl under him etc
Easy to shoe/trim, float, wash, catches you in the paddock etc. and has exceptional ground manners - not a nasty bone in his body.
He does occasionally crib when waiting for his hard feed to be made. He will only do it 2-3 times max and then stand patiently - wouldn’t be an issue if the feed wasn’t kept at his gate and has only done it with current feed set up.
He does not crib in the paddock or wind suck any other time than when he is being impatient.
Oscar does not have any bottom incisors. Due to an accident at the breakers pre-racing he broke the front of his bottom jaw and had it removed.
This does not affect him in any way, he raced in this condition, he is not head shy, he accepts the bit, he can graze and eat etc. Due to this, he will need a dentist that uses gum plates as a normal dental mouth piece does not work for him. He has been cleared by a vet to be worked and I have been advised that this will not effect him whatsoever apart from needing the gum plates. PLEASE VIEW VIDEO TO SEE HIM GRAZING.
He is up to date with teeth, farrier, worming etc.
If he wasn’t 4yo and about 17hh I would say he would be safe for a beginner to jump on due to how quiet he is. However, due to his age and size he would suit an intermediate to experienced rider wanting a quality young TB to bring on. He is the unicorn bay gelding everyone wants in the making. He is currently in light work.
This is the most heartbreaking sale of my life, but due to time constraints and cost of living these days I can no longer give him the time he deserves. He is a much loved member of the family and I need a quick sale to ease the heart break. Attempting to sell him privately was far too heart breaking, hence being sold here.
